Usage & Application

DMSO is used as an organic solvent for pharmaceutical intermediates, and as a solvent in oil extraction, acrylic spinning, polymer polymerization, cleaning of electronic components, gas absorption, and solvent extraction of rare metals. It serves as a raw material for antifreeze, an accelerator in chemical reactions, and a pharmaceutical excipient.

It has anti-inflammatory, analgesic, diuretic, and wound-healing effects. Other drugs soluble in it can penetrate the skin, enter the body, and replace oral or injection administration. It is applied in the treatment of arthritis, dermatitis, beriberi, sprains, tumors, and other diseases, hence the name "Universal Solvent".
